Hear Everything. Expose Yourself to Nothing.

The DefenderShield Air Tube Over-Ear Headphones by DefenderShield — curated by Temple Longevity — are engineered for those who want EMF-free audio without sacrificing the comfort or sound quality of a full-size headset. Aluminum drivers eliminate RF frequencies at the source. A 5-inch hollow air tube routes only acoustic waves — no electrical current, no electromagnetic field — to your ears. The driver sits inside a sealed chamber at the bottom of the 42.5-inch cord, converting electrical signal to sound before it ever enters the tube.

No Bluetooth. No battery. No wireless signal near your head. Zero RF at the ear.

Copper-infused braided nylon cord reduces ELF radiation along the wire during use — the shielding step most wired headphones skip entirely. Protected under Patent License #6453044. EMF shielding verified through FCC-accredited lab testing. Rated #1 Best Overall by EMF Academy 2026 for fidelity and EMF protection combined.

Temple Longevity curated these headphones because your audio sessions shouldn't come at the cost of your biology.

Why Over-Ear for EMF Protection?

Unlike in-ear designs built for movement, the DefenderShield Over-Ear model is built for extended, stationary listening — desk work, calls, studying, focused sessions. Plush over-ear cushioned cups fully surround the ears for a soft, pressure-balanced fit and passive sound isolation with no active electronics. Weight distributes across the top of the head rather than inside the ear canal — comfortable for an hour or more at a time.

The adjustable headband fits a wide range of head sizes. Cups rotate vertically and swivel horizontally. Folds flat into the included protective zipper carry case.

Key Features

  • Air Tube Technology — 5-inch hollow air tube keeps speakers away from your head; only sound waves travel to your ears
  • Aluminum Drivers — eliminate RF frequencies at the source before sound enters the tube
  • Copper-Infused ELF Cord Shielding — braided nylon cord reduces ELF exposure along the wire during use
  • Zero Bluetooth — fully wired, no battery, no wireless transmitter of any kind
  • Built-In Mic & Inline Controls — volume, play/pause, track skip, call answer/end from the cord
  • Plush Over-Ear Cushions — full ear enclosure, passive sound seal, no active electronics
  • Foldable Design — folds flat with protective zipper carry case included
  • Patent #6453044 — FCC-accredited lab tested

Available In

  • 3.5mm (TRRS/4-pole) — widest device compatibility; recommended if your device has both 3.5mm and USB-C
  • USB-C (analog) — for iPhone 15+, Samsung Galaxy S20+, newer iPad Pro/Air, and compatible Chromebooks/laptops

How to Use

Getting Set Up

Choose the version that matches your device:

  • 3.5mm — widest compatibility; if your device has both ports, choose 3.5mm. Requires a TRRS/4-pole port for full audio + mic + controls functionality.
  • USB-C — for newer devices with analog USB-C audio support (iPhone 15+, Samsung S20+, newer iPad Pro/Air). Plug directly into the device — avoid hubs or adapters.
  • iPhone 14 and older — use 3.5mm version with Apple's Lightning-to-3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (TRRS/4-pole).

Fitting

Adjust headband sliders so weight rests on the crown of your head, not on your ears. Ensure your entire ear sits inside the cushion cavity. Use vertical tilt and horizontal swivel to center cups. If clamping is too firm, stretch over a stack of books slightly wider than your head for 24 hours.

For Maximum EMF Reduction

  • Use inline controls to manage calls instead of picking up your phone
  • Place your device on a desk during long listening sessions — the 42.5" cord provides ample reach
  • Pair with a DefenderShield EMF-blocking phone case to reduce exposure at both contact points during calls

Compatibility

3.5mm Version

Best fit Any device with a true 3.5mm TRRS/4-pole headset jack
iPhone 14 and older Use with Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter (TRRS/4-pole, e.g. Apple Headphone Jack Adapter)
iPhone 15 and newer USB-C version recommended
Adapter rule TRRS (4-pole) = audio + mic + controls · TRS (3-pole) = audio only

USB-C Version

Likely compatible Samsung Galaxy S20+ · iPhone 15+ · Newer iPad Pro/Air · Some Chromebooks/Windows laptops with analog USB-C audio
Likely incompatible Samsung Galaxy Z Fold · Motorola Razr · OnePlus Nord · Most Windows laptops without analog USB-C audio · Nintendo Switch (audio may work, mic may not)
Avoid USB-C hubs · multi-port adapters · charging-only adapters · docking stations — plug directly into device

Troubleshooting

Audio works but microphone doesn't

  • Wrong adapter (TRS instead of TRRS) — use TRRS/4-pole adapter with DAC
  • Device not selecting external mic — check audio/input settings
  • App blocking external mic — test in a native voice recorder app
  • Plug not fully seated — push until it clicks, remove case if blocking

Inline controls don't work

  • Some devices ignore analog controls — this is a device limitation, not a headphone defect
  • Adapter may not support inline signals — test directly in device without adapter
  • Media app must be active first before inline controls send commands — hit Play on device, then use controls

Static, low volume, or one side cutting out

  • Straighten kinked air tubes
  • Clean debris from port
  • Disable Mono Audio in Accessibility settings
  • Reset EQ or audio effects
  • Re-seat plug firmly; ensure phone case isn't blocking full insertion
  • Turn off Bluetooth — audio may be routing wirelessly

Headphones don't fit correctly

  • Crown Rule — weight should rest on top of head, not on ears
  • Dual-Rotation — use vertical tilt and horizontal swivel to center cups over ears
  • Vice-Grip fix — stretch over a stack of books slightly wider than your head for 24 hours to ease tension
  • Full ear inside cushion — padding on ear cartilage causes fatigue; entire ear should be inside the cavity

Storage & Care

  • Fold flat following instructions inside the carry case — avoid kinking air tubes
  • Wipe ear cushions with a soft damp cloth — do not use alcohol
  • Clean cord with dry microfiber cloth — do not submerge
  • Store flat to maintain tube integrity
